Media Art Nexus NTU (MAN) showcased at “SG: Inside Out' in Tokyo 25-27 August 2017
Media Art Nexus NTU (MAN) is one among 13 Singaporean (SG) and Japanese (JP) leading contemporary creative talents from disciplines performing and visual arts that took part in this year’s edition of Singapore: Inside Out Tokyo (SG:IO) from 25-27 August. Themed "HyperCity", the showcase focused on the coming together of creatives from Singapore and Japan in joint exploration of the cultural trends arising from the shifts towards a digital urban age. The event was officially launched by Mr Chaly Mah, Chairman of Singapore Tourism Board (STB) and Mr Lionel Yeo, Chief Executive of STB, in conjunction with the launch of Singapore's new destination brand – Passion Made Possible - in Tokyo. Joining them were more than 200 key members of the creative, trade and media communities. The SGIO Tokyo event, at the Bank Gallery in the hip Omotesando district, drew an audience of about 2,000 on 26th of August alone.
For this exhibition, multimedia collective MAN NTU collaborated with the local fashion designer Josiah Chua and his 2018 capsule collection, titled “光”, which is “light” in Chinese. MAN’s Crepuscular ray of the Moon created myriad abstract and interactive audio-visual works of dreamlike fantasies inspired by the moon.
