Description: The team proposed BreadBuddy, a vending machine concept that uses UVC light to sterilise and extend the shelf life of unsold bakery buns. As unsold buns can be sold at discounted prices to the needy on the next day, this can significantly help to reduce food wastage and improve food security. To back up their proposal, the team constructed a working prototype, evaluated its efficacy through lab experiments, and demonstrated the scalability of their idea through break-even analysis and the development of marketing strategies.
