Product/Proposal: Team Bryan on Sang Kancil vs Buto Ijo, Team Jason on 百花齊放 vs 星羅棋布 and Team Nick on Shields of Shanghai Vs Shanghai Dynasty

Description:

Team Bryan used Jakarta as a case study, with the main critical uncertainty lying in Jakarta's continued subsidence and the problems that it causes. In Buto Ijo, they imagine a Jakarta which has adapted and evolved alongside the water woes it faces; whereas in Sang Kacil, they envision a Jakarta which has managed to overcome its sinking through careful and prudent planning.

Team Jason used Hong Kong as a case study, with the main critical uncertainty lying in Hong Kong's style of governance, be it capitalist or socialist. In the scenario of 百花齊放, they envision a world where Hong Kongers continue to be outward-looking, embracing foreign tech with a capitalist government; in the 星羅棋布 scenario, they portrayed Hong Kong under the heavy influence of China, with a socialist government and an inward adoption of tech.

Team Nick used Shanghai as a case study, with the main critical uncertainty lying in China’s decision to embrace globalisation. In "Shields of Shanghai", economic and scientific cooperation is commonplace and Shanghai is able to leverage greater technologies to solve the energy crisis and revolutionise space travel; whereas in "Shanghai Dynasty", China is fragmented from the world with Shanghai being a key player in driving the nation's domestic growth and R&D, leading China's development of the ultimate sustainability-focused circular economy.
