About the competition: Since 2016, Shell has been inviting university students to imagine the future of more and cleaner energy in Asian and Middle Eastern cities and how it will change the way we live, work and play. Scenarios provide plausible alternative views of the future. Building and using scenarios can help students explore what the future might look like and the likely challenges of living in it.

Achievement: Champion
Prize: $2,500
REP Students: Christian Lim, Lim Sui Kiat, Wayne Tan, Ng Li Lin Evonne, Chan Ming Han, Ho Han Yu, Low Zhe Kai
Product/Proposal: The team created a 5,000-word report depicting 2 distinct scenarios of how people will work, live, and play in Ho Chi Minh City in 2050. They also made a showcase, which was a 3D model of how they envision the city to be like in 2050, along with a 15-minute presentation.
Description: The team's showcase, leveraging the elegance of 3D printing, serves to visually encapsulate the team’s vision of Ho Chi Minh City in 2050, juxtaposing the two possible realities in a side-by-side miniature model. To complement the physical showcase, the team has accompanied their efforts with an interactive virtual map which will include greater details of the features of these two futures. This two-pronged, hybrid approach will give viewers immersive and insightful views into how these two futures will be like.
