The main research interests are magmatic processes occurring just prior to and during an eruption. With a focus on magma storage conditions and eruption mechanisms, with a particular interest in identifying processes responsible for changes in eruptive behavior. 

The lab serves for sample preparation for Petrophysical and Textural Analysis and the study of porosity and grain size.

The main applications are the study of natural reservoirs for hydrocarbon, water resources and mining industry.
