FlexiMasters in Business AI and Technology course is offered by Nanyang Business School, Singapore, as part of the FlexiMasters series launched by Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (NTU Singapore).

Module Objective

AI FinanceEmpowering Businesses through AI, GPT, Cloud Agility and Cyber Security Design

This course covers the fundamentals of deep learning, GPT models, and cloud computing for business applications. Learners will learn about neural networks, deep learning architectures like Convolution Neural Network (CNN) and Recurrent Neural Network (RNN), and the use of GPT models for text generation. They will also gain practical experience in leveraging cloud platforms for scalable training and deployment.

Real-world business applications, including predictive analytics and sentiment analysis, will be explored. Through hands-on projects, learners will develop the skills to apply these technologies to drive innovation and make data-driven decisions in a business context including cyber security. By the end of the course, participants will be equipped with the knowledge and practical skills to leverage deep learning, GPT, and cloud technologies to develop innovative solutions, optimize business processes, and gain a competitive edge in the rapidly evolving digital landscape.

At the end of the course, you will be able to:

  • Write codes to solve business problems (case study) programmatically by creating AI models using Python, Keras, cloud, GPT and Application Programming Interface (API).
  • Manage data to sufficiently derive, communicate analytics outcome and eventually create AI model in Business.
  • Implement a simple system in cloud including engineering work in implementing AI model in Business.
  • Gain an in-depth understanding of business modelling concepts including lower the cost and increase revenue using AI through quantitative analysis: assess their ability to use data and analytics to support their strategies. They should be capable of performing cost-benefit analyses, forecasting, and other quantitative evaluations to justify the use of AI in business modeling.
  • Demonstrating the usage of data mining techniques like regression and decision trees in relevant situations involves applying these techniques to analyze data and extract meaningful insights, which can then be used to inform decision-making.
  • Assess the cybersecurity landscape, identify threats and vulnerabilities, and apply security controls to reduce the chances of cyber-attack by 50%.

Machine Learning has transformed businesses, societies, and governments. This course will explain the important ideas, concepts and techniques in real world applications and understand how Machine Learning impacts the world.

This course is application-centric and uses business strategy as the common purpose driving machine learning techniques and applications. Place real world applications as the primary role and re-establish the original purpose of Machine Learning – to serve humans and society, participants will be able to apply and lead Machine Learning projects to make better decisions in their area of work.

  • Extract insights from AI and Machine Learning results to improve organizational performance and decision-making.

AI VisualThe Data Edge and Visual Story Mastery

Data is integral to businesses and organizations. This course discusses business data management, data access, and business visualization for professionals with little to no technical knowledge of database software.

Building upon the foundation of data management, the course then delves into the art of visual storytelling. Students will explore various visualization techniques and tools to transform raw data into compelling narratives. They will learn how to choose appropriate visual representations, such as charts, graphs, maps, and infographics, to effectively communicate data-driven insights to different audiences.

The course is meant for middle-level and senior managers of firms who need to understand and make strategic decisions about their technology investments within their firm. The course also serves dual roles of presenting the importance of data on business decision making and of demonstrating ways that visualization can effectively augment business decisions.

At the end of the course, you will be able to:

  • Explain the differences between Structured Query Language (SQL) and Non-relational Database (noSQL) databases.
  • Perform data querying on MySQL and MongoDB databases.
  • Identify business needs and recommend suitable visualization techniques.
  • Apply concepts and frameworks from the course material to problems and decisions faced in their own organization, to help make better strategic decisions.
  • Apply concepts to cases and make coherent arguments about the pros and cons of a digital solution to a problem, typically faced within an organization.

AI AutomationAI Powered Media and Automation

This course provides essential concepts and principles of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to help learners understand potential applications and other issues related to AI media (e.g., image and video editing, multimedia applications), deep learning, machine learning and automation. Learners will also have the opportunity to learn how to work with the popular RPA tool, UiPath, enabling them to learn how to automate processes.

Participants will acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to automate processes, increase efficiency, and drive productivity in order to achieve cost savings and gain a competitive advantage.

At the end of the course, you will be able to:

  • Explain essential concepts and principles of AI media and automation and apply their awareness of the potential applications and risks in their decision-making.
  • Describe fundamental concepts and principles of RPA, including its benefits, use cases and limitations.
  • Design and deploy automated processes for repetitive tasks using UiPath as an RPA tool

AI for commerceTransformative Commerce: E-Business Strategies for Digital Success

This course is about understanding and ultimately surfacing patterns of IT-driven change and strategies.  The teaching will be through case study discussions of multiple companies in varied industries through which participants will understand how IT is reshaping the economic landscape by offering new ways to gather information, compete based on value-added knowledge, and providing new ways to coordinate and connect. Most of the case studies pertain to online companies who in a short span of two decades have become dominant giants in their field. 

It will be a capstone for professionals who have learnt about individual technologies and now want to leverage them for business transformation. These professionals will span both technology and business roles and will be the key levers for change in their boundary-spanning roles.  

At the end of the course, you will be able to:

  • Evaluate technologies in terms of strategic and disruptive potential
  • Define the growth path and patterns of change related to existing and emerging technologies
  • Build a tool set of best practices about how leading companies have created value in the technology field
  • Examine the relationship of the technology field with different reference disciplines to know “how” and “why” technology impacts business

Funding Requirements
- You must achieve a minimum of 75% attendance for each module.
- You must complete and pass all assessment components.

You do not need to contact SkillsFuture for funding before course registration. NTU will handle the funding paperwork for both self and company-sponsored applicants. You will be invoiced the nett amount after funding and GST.

All self-sponsored NTU/NIE alumni may utilise their alumni credits of $1,600 to co-pay up to 50% of the nett fee (exclusive of prevailing GST) payable for courses offered by NTU-Continuing Education Training (CET) Units.
