NTU President Prof Ho Teck Hua recognised with two prestigious awards

NTU Singapore President Prof Ho Teck Hua has been recognised among the 2024 INFORMS Fellows for his significant contributions to the fields of behavioural science, marketing, operational management, and his service to operations research, management science, and artificial intelligence.

As one of only 12 luminaries named INFORMS Fellow this year, Prof Ho joins an esteemed cohort recognised for their impact in decision and data sciences. The 2024 INFORMS Annual Meeting, which will honour these Fellows, takes place from October 20 to 23 in Seattle, Washington. The society’s 12,000 members include Nobel Laureates.

Dr Elena Gerstmann, executive director of INFORMS, said Prof Ho, along with the class of 2024 INFORMS Fellows, “represents the pinnacle of excellence in operations research and analytics”. She added that Prof Ho “has made a lasting impact on the field and reflects his dedication to bringing about a better world through smarter decisions”.

Prof Ho’s exceptional contributions to Singapore’s science and technology landscape have also earned him the prestigious President’s Science and Technology Medal (PSTM), the nation's top honour in science and technology. The medal was presented by President Tharman Shanmugaratnam during the President’s Science and Technology Awards ceremony at NTU Singapore. Prof Ho was lauded for his efforts in elevating Singapore’s scientific stature, including attracting top talent, nurturing emerging scientists, fostering interdisciplinary research, and advancing national R&D ecosystems.

Prof Ho’s marketing expertise is well established, with notable roles as the William Halford Jr Family Professor of Marketing at the University of California, Berkeley's Haas School of Business (2002-2015), Associate Professor of Marketing at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania (1997-2002), and Assistant Professor of Operations and Technology Management at UCLA’s Anderson School of Management (1994-1997).
