Premiere of CAADcast

CAAD launched CAADcast, our very own podcast about Asian art and design.

CAADcast is hosted by Principal Research Fellow Karin Oen, and contains interviews between Karin and art and design practitioners across Asia. In the first three episodes, Karin Oen interviewed Jas Charanjiva, Kazumasa Nonaka, and Charles Gallavardin about their practices in Mumbai, Tokyo, and Ho Chi Minh City respectively. Jas discusses moving to Mumbai, how she began running Kultureshop, and her art piece Don’t Mess With Me. Kazumasa discusses being a project manager at teamLab and the process of creating interactive art with technology, as well as the challenges of Covid upon these installations that require human interaction. Finally, Charles discusses the importance of environmental architecture as well as the Manifesto for a Happy Frugality, a movement originated by French architects and engineers calling for architecture and construction to shift away from environmental destruction and towards more sustainable vernacular materials and solutions.

These are only three of five episodes planned for Season 1. The remaining episodes will be published monthly on all podcast platforms.
