02 May 2025 05.00 PM - 07.30 PM NTU@one-north, Lecture Theatre 301 Current Students, Industry/Academic Partners, Public

The NTU-SBF Centre for African Studies (CAS) hosted Prof Michael Tanchum at the Nanyang Technological University. Prof Tanchum, who is a non-resident fellow at CAS and a frequent contributor, sees the future of industrial and agriculture production in Africa.

According to Prof Tanchum the size of the market, a young energetic population and plentiful land and energy sources means that Asian investors can no longer afford to ignore the industrial potential of Africa. He identified green hydrogen, clean technology and batteries as some of the most exciting sectors and touted Morocco as a shining example of an African state that has used its natural wealth (phosphate) and its geography (proximity to Europe) to attract foreign direct investments.
