Health Outcomes, Economics & Sustainability

Our cluster will examine the health impact of climate change particularly those due to extreme heat, air pollution and water-related issues. We will assess how they affect both physical and mental health, health seeking behavior, A&E attendances, hospitalizations, health economics etc. and we will study innovative solutions to mitigate the impacts.

Research Focus

  •  Examine how air quality, heat, and weather interact to affect human health
  •  Study vulnerable groups in detail, including the elderly, children, and those with pre-existing conditions, to better understand their unique risks
  •  Develop targeted communication tools to promote behavioral changes that enhance public health.
  •  Investigate the financial costs and overall health impacts brought on by climate change.
  •  Evaluate which interventions offer the best value by reducing both economic costs and health burdens
