Six NTU Maritime Studies students appointed as MaritimeSG Youth Ambassadors (MYAs)

On 14 September 2024, the third batch of 18 MaritimeSG Youth Ambassadors (MYAs) were appointed by Guest-of-Honour Senior Parliamentary Secretary Yam Keng Baey at Singapore Maritime Gallery.

The MaritimeSG Youth Ambassador programmme was launched by Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) in 2022, calling for youth leaders passionate about maritime to champion a maritime movement among their peers. MYAs attend exclusive networking events with top maritime and business leaders and are invited to visit restricted maritime facilities through learning journeys.

Among the 18 MYAs, 6 are maritime studies students from NTU’s School of Civil and Environmental Engineering. They will join a steadily growing pool of MYAs, nearly 60 MYAs has been appointed across all three batches.

The list of appointed NTU students can be found below.

  • Christine Khoo Lemin
  • Eleos Tan
  • Fathil Matyn Bin Mohamad Sa'at
  • Vera Wang Xinyue
  • Lim Jia Huey, Sally
  • Shaun Ong

As with previous batches, this new cohort of MYAs comes from both maritime and non-maritime courses of study, reflecting the multidisciplinary expertise needed in the maritime industry as it undergoes decarbonisation and digitalisation transformations.

The pioneer batch of MYAs have completed their 2-year appointments and are now part of the MYA Alumni. MPA will continue to invite them to exclusive maritime events as MYA Alumni, and we look forward to their continued contributions to the maritime industry as working adults.
