AI at the Edge: Global Thought Leaders to Converge at NTU for the IAS Frontiers Conference
On 23 April 2025, NTU’s College of Computing and Data Science (CCDS), in collaboration with the Institute of Advanced Studies (IAS), will host the inaugural IAS Frontiers Conference on Artificial Intelligence – a bold new platform that brings together the world’s foremost AI thinkers for a high-impact exchange on the future of AI research, innovation, and ethics.
The one-day conference will gather top academics and practitioners from across the globe, including Prof Arnaud Doucet (Oxford), Prof Dawn Song (UC Berkeley), Assoc Prof Stefano Ermon (Stanford), Assoc Prof Yarin Gal (Oxford), Assoc Prof Mengdi Wang (Princeton), Asst Prof Diyi Yang (Stanford), Prof Antoine Bosselut (EPFL), and Stephen McAleer from OpenAI, whose insights are expected to reflect both the promise and complexity of artificial intelligence today.
Spanning topics such as Bayesian inference, reinforcement learning, secure systems, computational social science, and AI for sustainability, the conference aims to foster both technical depth and ethical reflection. A concluding panel titled “Future Directions of AI” will challenge the community to reimagine the purpose and trajectory of research in an era defined by exponential change.
“Conferences like this are more than a showcase of expertise — they are a call to action for Singapore’s brightest minds to shape AI responsibly.”
Professor Luke Ong, Conference Co-Chair & Dean, CCDS
“AI is rapidly reshaping how we live, work and think. Through this conference, we invite our community to explore the edges of innovation and the ethical questions that come with it.”
Professor Bo An, Conference Co-Chair & Head, Division of Artificial Intelligence, CCDS
The Conference reflects CCDS’s efforts at driving meaningful dialogue around AI research, its application and impact. The conference also offers the space for collaboration, provocation, and reflection.
As NTU positions itself as a regional AI hub, the IAS Frontiers Conference serves both as a signal and a catalyst: a signal that NTU is serious about being part of global AI discourse, and a catalyst for the kind of interdisciplinary, values-led research that the world urgently needs.
