Ant International and NTU Singapore collaborate on Privacy-Enhancing Technologies to strengthen digital economy growth in the region

Singapore, 17 July 2024

Ant International and Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (NTU Singapore), have announced a five-year collaboration to advance digital trust and privacy-enhancing technologies (PETs) in the Asia Pacific region. Witnessed by Senior Minister of State Tan Kiat How, the collaboration aims to bolster the digital economy by leveraging Ant International's industry experience and NTU Singapore's research expertise. Under the Master Research Collaboration Agreement (MRCA), Ant International will contribute up to S$20 million to support PET research, focusing on technologies like zero-knowledge proofs and federated learning. The partnership will also explore privacy-preserving methods for large language models (LLMs) and will be overseen by a joint research committee. This collaboration builds on previous efforts between NTU Singapore and Ant Group, which developed a new state-of-the-art Private Set Intersection (PSI) protocol that allows businesses to carry out joint database analysis while maintaining the privacy of their respective data.
