NTU EEE Rings in the Chinese New Year and Lantern Festival with Joyous Festivities
On 10 February 2025, as the Chinese New Year (CNY) celebrations transitioned into the Lantern Festival, the Lifelong Learning Club organised a grand celebration for the NTU School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) that honoured tradition, strengthened community ties, and spread festive cheer.
The event was a vibrant showcase of culture and creativity. Participants took part in cherished customs, such as writing the Chinese character for "fortune" to invite prosperity, designing unique pencil cases, and painting intricate lacquer fans. These hands-on activities not only celebrated artistic traditions but also provided students with an opportunity to bond and create memorable experiences together.
Excitement in Every Corner
The game zone buzzed with energy as attendees put their skills to the test in table hockey, basketball shooting, dart throwing, and ring tossing. Friendly competitions sparked laughter and camaraderie, while delightful surprises such as fluffy cotton candy, captivating magic tricks, and cleverly crafted balloon bracelets kept the festive spirit alive. Live music performances further enhanced the warm and celebratory atmosphere, making the event even more special.
Illuminating the Lantern Festival
In preparation for the Lantern Festival, students designed and lit beautifully crafted lanterns, symbolising hope, renewal, and aspirations for the future. The gathering fostered a sense of togetherness, as friends reconnected and shared in the joy of the season. Traditional snacks and refreshments, thoughtfully arranged, added to the inviting and festive ambience, making everyone feel right at home.
More than just a festive occasion, this mid-festival gathering underscored the strong bonds within the NTU EEE community. It provided students with a space to unwind, celebrate, and build meaningful connections, all while embracing the rich cultural heritage of the Chinese New Year and the Lantern Festival.
As we continue to bask in the festive spirit, we look forward to more engaging and heartwarming celebrations in the future—where learning, friendship, and cultural appreciation flourish side by side. Wishing the NTU EEE family a bright and prosperous year ahead!
