Spreading Smiles and Love Together: Toy Buffet 2024

The Lee Kong Chian Lecture Theatre was transformed into a wonderland for 2,500 incredible young guests, aged 5 to 12, from welfare homes and the Financial Assistance Scheme. Under this year’s theme, “Monstrous Mayhem: Brave the Unknown!” these children were encouraged to face and conquer their “monsters” - the everyday challenges they encounter - with courage, while enjoying a day filled with joy, games, and toys! Each child took home toys of their choice and enjoyed activities like the ball pit, claw machine and more. This unforgettable day, also attended by Ms Sun Xueling, Minister of State for Home Affairs and Social & Family Development, was made possible by the dedication of our volunteers and sponsors.

Ms Karen Lek, Chairperson of the Social Impact Committee and the school’s Assistant Director, Students, shared, “I’m thrilled to be part of the Toy Buffet this year. Together with all the sponsors and volunteers, I hope to show these special children how much they’re loved.”

Mr Robin C. Lee, CEO of Food from the Heart, shared: “Toy Buffet is about spreading hope and love to underprivileged children, reminding them that they too, are special. This year, we wanted our theme to feature playful ‘monsters’ to reflect the daily challenges these kids face, while inspiring them to find hope and resilience.

Alumni Cheryl Ong who joined to volunteer at the event said: "I have been looking for opportunities to give back. I love working with children so this Toy Buffet event is a perfect event for me to do good and contribute!"

Third year student Tsai Pei Yu said: “This is a meaningful event - we bond and interact with the children while giving back to the society. It also helps to create a sense of community and shared purpose within #NTUEEE. This event would enable us to be thankful of how privileged we are."
