Dr Patwal Shashank  (valedictorian)

Dr Patwal Shashank graduates with Doctor of Philosophy (Electrical and Electronic Engineering) from NTU EEE and was elected valedictorian of the Graduate Class of 2022. He completed his undergraduate studies in the Department of Applied Physics at the Indian Institute of Technology (BHU) where he studied Engineering Physics.

Dr. Shashank said decided to do his postgraduate programme at NTU EEE because of its high global ranking. Being at NTU EEE gave him many rare, once-in-a-lifetime experiences such as listening to and interacting with Nobel laureates at seminars conducted on campus.

Away from academia, Dr. Shashank was an active member of the Graduate Student Council for three years, organizing various workshops, student orientations and event celebrations like CNY and Deepawali. He was also an integral member of the NTU cricket team for four years, representing NTU in inter-varsity tournaments and Singapore Cricket Association cricket leagues.

His advice to the prospective PhD students in NTU EEE would be to explore the various opportunities that this school provides. “While staying focused on the main objective of your PhD, take advantage of the wide spectrum of learning that this school provides. Make sure you grow as a professional as well as a person” he said.
