Experience is his best teacher
“Greet every day as the start of something new. I think the best experiences and memories are made when you venture beyond what you know and are comfortable with, because that’s where the real growth, opportunities, and new friends lie.”
Undergraduate Bryan Leow in his third year with NTU’s School of Computer Science and Engineering (SCSE) believes in breathing life into SCSE through participating in the many college and university events to engage prospective students and serve the existing student bodies.
“I am proud to have been able to serve SCSE in so many meaningful ways! I owe it to the brilliant and dedicated committee members of the planning team. From Zoom calls lasting till 2am to camping overnight at the SCSE lounge, it’s always exciting to get to work alongside fellow SCSE students who share this mission of servicing the club and the student body – it is this heart and passion to serve that keeps us motivated and coming back for more.
These experiences have uplifted my student life in SCSE just as much as it has uplifted the people whom we serve. Plus, these journeys are never walked alone – they have been an amazing way to make friends and get to know my batchmates, seniors, and juniors outside of tutorial rooms and lecture halls to cultivate meaningful relationships.”
What about his learning experience at SCSE?
“SCSE provides a rigorous curriculum that focuses and drives home the fundamentals of Computer Science, laying the foundations for you to pursue a career in any technical field; from software development / data science to network engineering / hardware engineering. The split of lectures, tutorials, and labs allows one to develop strong theoretical knowledge and practical implementation skills.”
NTU’s wide internship opportunities have opened new horizons for Bryan.
“I have interned at Alliance Healthcare Group, ComfortDelGro and JERA Global Markets. These internships have been amazing experiences as they allowed me to drive impact in real-world projects and bring value to clients, learn best practices, and discover where my interests lie in to guide me in my career choices.”
