Thriving New Grounds

NTU Song Kiat Thriving New Grounds
“What motivates me to be active in school events is the fulfilment that comes from interacting with new people and the environment. It trains my interpersonal skills and keeps me open-minded to fresh perspectives and ideas for my future. By being actively involved in NTU events, I now have friends from a wide variety of disciplines! This makes my school life much more enjoyable as well.”

Year 2 undergraduate, Songkiat Ow Shiyuan studying Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at the School of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology (CCEB) is proud to have represented NTU in numerous outreach events which expanded his social circle and helped build his character.

NTU’s renowned reputation opened many work opportunities for Songkiat.

“I applied for a summer internship in 2022 at the Keppel Offshore & Marine, where I had the opportunity to work with professional engineers on a project related to clean energy. The summer internship exposed me to what it’s like to be an engineer, and I have a better appreciation as to how valuable an engineer’s problem-solving skills can be. It was also a phenomenal experience to be working on board a ship for the first time.”

And to all prospective students joining CCEB.

“Do not let the stereotypical engineering life define you! Step out of your comfort zone to explore what you are truly capable of. I truly urge every student to have an active university life. The NTU College of Engineering & CCEB offer countless opportunities, and who knows, you may discover something new about yourself!”
