Manufacturing companies will get more help in adopting digital technology with a new lab that was officially opened at NTU. The facility, created through a collaboration between NTU and global technology giant HP, showcases digital manufacturing technologies that can make manufacturing and supply chain operations more efficient, cost-effective and sustainable. The university also worked with HP to develop SkillsFuture courses to prepare employees in the manufacturing industry for the future. Prof Lam Khin Yong, NTU's senior vice-president of research, said: "The advanced technologies and automation solutions jointly developed by NTU and HP are expected to impact businesses in Singapore and beyond, as these innovations are geared towards efficiency, productivity and most importantly, sustainability."
HP-NTU Corporate Lab: Six new SkillsFuture courses for 3D printing and digital design launched

A new skills development programme has been launched for 3D printing and digital design. It comprises of six courses under the SkillsFuture umbrella and the aim is to train about 120 professionals every year. The programme is led by the HP-NTU Corporate Lab, a collaboration between multinational firm HP and NTU. Prof Tan Ming Jen, Co-Director of the HP-NTU Corporate Lab, said: "Some of the courses will be modular, bite-sized, which we hope to package into diploma, advanced diplomas and graduate courses. But the main benefit is that they can incorporate these into their workspace and see how these machines can improve productivity and sustainability in their manufacturing lines." Five of the six modules are already ready for registration. The lab's other areas of focus revolve around artificial intelligence, machine learning, and cybersecurity.

and Singapore’s National Research Foundation (NRF) – is HP’s fifth major research laboratory, its first headquartered in Asia, and represents HP’s largest research collaboration with any university worldwide.

Today, the partners are celebrating the official opening of the HP-NTU Digital Manufacturing Corporate Lab by showcasing digital manufacturing technologies that they say will improve the efficiency, cost and sustainability of manufacturing and supply chain operations. NTU Senior Vice President (Research) Prof Lam Khin Yong said, "Over the last year, we are able to see the first fruits of the collaboration, which combines NTU's deep capabilities in machine learning, data science, AI and additive manufacturing, with HP's expertise in innovation and technology solutions. Technologies developed at the Corporate Lab can then be test-bedded on the NTU Smart Campus, a microcosm of an urban city."
