From Research to Innovation and Enterprise: A Case Study for Graphene
IAS@NTU Discovery Science Seminar by Prof Shen Zexiang
The graphene webinar was jointly organised by IAS and the Graduate Students' Clubs of SPMS and MSE. Since its discovery in 2004, graphene and graphene composite materials have been the hottest topic in research. Prof Shen Zexiang demonstrated how graphene can be applied in energy storage as active material that improves the quality of fast charging Li ion batteries and supercapacitors; and how graphene based products may fundamentally change the landscape for electric vehicles and consumer electronics. He also illustrated the significant opportunities offered for entrepreneurship as companies based graphene products have attracted major fundings from government agencies, VCs and private companies.
