Bringing earthquake resistance technology to communities facing high seismic risks

NTU has developed cost-effective strengthening and retrofitting techniques which can be used to reduce the risk of collapse of buildings during earthquakes. Partnering with local Universities and Government Organizations, NTU has been working to strengthen buildings in several earthquake prone regions of China, India and Indonesia.

The 'training of trainers’ approach is used in these programs wherein training on seismic strengthening is provided to academics, professionals, government engineers and graduate students. These ‘master trainers’ further train local builders through hands-on implementation of the technologies for strengthening buildings.
