NTUpreneur Reily Lim shares his first foray into entrepreneurship

Reily, first SMiE batch, shares how the new Second Major has helped him discover his passion to enact change and the importance of having an open mind and being humble to reach out for advice.

NTUI&E-NTUpreneur-SS-ReilyLimWhat kickstarted your interest in entrepreneurship?
The idea of financial independence was what got me interested. However, after reading biographies about many entrepreneurs, the motion of instilling change by generating ideas that could benefit the world was what further fueled my passion for entrepreneurship.

How has your SMiE experience been?
Being part of the first SMiE batch has been an exciting journey filled with engaging lessons, peers from various faculties and a common desire to enact change.

What insights have you gained from SMiE?
Our last lesson touched on the ‘Blue Ocean’ concept which I found was particularly insightful. A winning strategy is to compete in the blue ocean where you are creating a new market with a unique product or service.

What advice would you have for students interested in this field?
Have an open mind, do not be too quick to deem an idea as unfeasible. Never be afraid to ask questions and seek advice from peers and tutors.

What’s next for your journey as an entrepreneur?
I hope to continue to network with aspiring entrepreneurs with similar passions and ambitions.
