General Description

Nanyang Venture Formula (NVF) Racing is Nanyang Technological University's (NTU) very own Formula Student team, which was set-up in 2020 in collaboration with Nanyang Venture, NTU’s premier team for eco-efficiency vehicles.

Under the guidance of Professor Ng Heong Wah, NVF Racing’s 25+ strong team, composed of students from the School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE), School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering(EEE), School of Computer Science and Engineering(SCSE), School of Art Design and Media (SADM) and Nanyang Business School (NBS), aim to manufacture, test, and race a fully functional electric powered race car.

Building upon the experience and expertise acquired from Nanyang Venture 1 to 12, we believe NVF Racing has the potential to achieve great success in the coming years. The team’s goal is to find innovative approaches to modern engineering problems that will impact our future world.

About Formula Student

Formula Student (FS) is Europe's most established educational engineering competition, where teams from around the world design, manufacture and race a small-scale Formula-style single seater race car. Backed by motor industry and high-profile engineers such Patron, Ross Brawn OBE, the competition aims to develop enterprising and innovative young engineers and encourage more young people to take up a career in engineering, with over 100 university teams taking part every year. This year’s competition will be held at the legendary Silverstone Circuit in Northamptonshire, England, and will see over 100 teams go head-to-head in a series of static and dynamic events, with the aim of being crowned champions against top engineering teams in the world. As a newly formed FS team in NTU, NVF Racing is seeking to launch our maiden race car (NVF-1) at the Formula Student UK (FSUK) competition, making us the first FS team from Singapore and SEA to compete at FSUK competition. The project usually forms part of a degree-level project and is viewed by the motorsport industry as the standard for engineering graduates to meet, transitioning them from university to the workplace. It is a kite-mark for real-world engineering experience, combining practical engineering experience with soft skills including business planning and project management. Each team works in close collaboration with one another to ensure the successful completion of the car. Our team is dedicated to a culture of innovation and open communication, which allows the team to work closely together to solve complex engineering problems and achieve our goals.
