Seminar Abstract

3D imaging is widely used in various industries, as an important tool for quality verification, workshop planning, simulation, reverse engineering, robot positioning guidance, etc. Enabling technologies for 3D imaging include (but not limited to) stereo vision, fringe projection, X-ray and microscopy. With additional information mapped to a 3D model, such as thermal, colour and material information, the applications of 3D imaging can be significantly widened. In this report, the presenter will share relevant technologies developed in SIMTech and targeted applications in semiconductor, logistics, food, aerospace and other industries.

Speaker’s Biography
Cheng Fang obtained his PhD degree from Hefei University of Technology, China, in 2010 where he performed research on nano measurements. Thereafter, he completed her postdoctoral research at National Taiwan University, Taiwan, and Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, where he gained insights into nano-positioning and surface metrology. Cheng joined the Advanced Remanufacturing and Technology Centre (ARTC), A*STAR, in 2013 as a Development Scientist and is now an Acting R&D Director at ARTC. His research interests are in intelligent surface-defect detection, surface-finish inspection, automated optical inspection and in-line instrumentation.
