Professor Javad Mostaghimi

Founding Director

Centre for Advanced Coating Technologies, University of Toronto

This seminar will be chaired by A/P Fei Duan.

Seminar Abstract
Thermal spray coating technology is a critical surface engineering process that involves the application of protective or functional coatings to a substrate. This technology plays a crucial role in enhancing the performance, durability, and cost-effectiveness of components across many industries, e.g., aerospace. Its ability to provide tailored solutions and contribute to sustainability makes it an indispensable tool in modern engineering and manufacturing.

This seminar describes some of the research and development activities at the Centre for Advanced Coating Technologies. A comprehensive model of thermal spray process will be described. Development of highly efficient DC and RF plasma torches for thermal spray applications will be presented.

Speaker's Biography

Dr. Javad Mostaghimi is a Professor in the Department of Mechanical & Industrial Engineering at the University of Toronto.
