MAE PhD student Ms. Maria Merin Antony won Best Poster Travel Grant Award at IONS Ireland 2021 conference
Congratulations to MAE PhD student Ms. Maria Merin Antony for the Best Poster Presentation Award received at IONS Ireland 2021, Nov 9-11, 2021. IONS (International Optica Network of Students) sponsored by Optica (formerly OSA), provides "an international platform that brings together experts and young researchers in the field of optics and photonics from around the globe offering opportunities for networking and technical presentations".
The research group (Ms. Maria Merin Antony, Dr. C. S. Suchand Sandeep, and Assoc. Prof. Murukeshan Vadakke Matham) from the Centre for Optical and Laser Engineering (COLE), MAE presented the work entitled “In-situ corrosion monitoring for engineering applications using hyperspectral imaging probe” at the conference. In this work, a probe allowing early-stage detection of corrosion, particularly in difficult to access areas based on non-destructive, fast, and precise corrosion inspection method utilizing hyperspectral vision has been proposed and demonstrated. This poster was selected as one of the best posters and received a travel grant to visit the OSA chapters in Cork and Dublin.
