The inaugural Michael P. Païdoussis Medal 2022 is awarded to Distinguished University Professor Gao Huajian by the Royal Society of Canada
Distinguished University Professor Gao Huajian is awarded the inaugural Michael P. Païdoussis Medal 2022 by the Royal Society of Canada in recognition of his pioneering contributions in nanomechanics of engineering and biological systems that have led to the creation of a new research field at the interface of solid mechanics, materials science, and biophysics. Professor Gao has also made outstanding contributions to the education of new generations of mechanicians and leadership in the international applied mechanics community.

The Michael P. Païdoussis Medal is awarded to recognise an individual’s outstanding contributions to research, education, and leadership in applied mechanics, including solid continuum mechanics, fluid mechanics, and fluid-structure interaction, by the Royal Society of Canada. The award is made possible with the support of the Canadian National Committee for the International Union of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (CNC-IUTAM).
