Overseas Learning Opportunities
LKCMedicine students enjoy numerous learning opportunities to go overseas during and outside curriculum.
For LKCMedicine Students: Overseas Electives
LKCMedicine students are required to undergo a six-week elective abroad in their final year. Students are afforded the opportunity to plan and undertake their preferred specialty at a foreign university or placement hospital of their choice. This is an opportunity to gain hands-on experience at a different healthcare system and pursue choices that encourage broad personal and professional development.
Our students have participated in electives spanning 31 different countries, engaging with over 90 esteemed institutions including Peking University, Oxford University, Queen Elizabeth Hospital, and the John Hopkins University School of Medicine. The electives have taken place in diverse locations such as Canda, Japan, India, South Korea, Taiwan, United Kingdom and United States among others.
For LKCMedicine Students: Overseas Community Involvement Programmes (OCIPs)
Outside of curriculum, LKCMedicine students can opt to serve (in a capacity appropriate for medical students) the beneficiaries found in our local society and other countries through the Local Community Involvement Programmes (LCIPs) or OCIPs.
Presently, there are 10 OCIPs offered, which serve communities in a wide range of countries such as Nepal, Thailand, Myanmar and India.
