NTU maintains top five spot among Asia’s best universities
NTU climbed one spot to be placed fourth in the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) 2024 ranking of Asia’s universities. In the latest rankings for Asian universities by Times Higher Education (THE), NTU retained its fifth placing since 2021. As the youngest university in the top 10, NTU stood out for its strengths in research output, academic reputation, and research partnerships with other industry and academic institutions.
LKCMedicine continues to make its mark in world’s top 2% scientists list
44 LKCMedicine and NHG scientists were ranked the world’s top 2% most-cited scientists in the Stanford-Elsevier 2024 list. The ranking method developed by Stanford University is deemed to be the gold standard in the scientific research field. Read the full list here.
LKCMedicine alumni receive prestigious award from Ministry of Health
Dr Brandon William Hew Hsien Loong and Dr Lee Wei En, Zen received the Ministry of Health’s prestigious National Outstanding Post-Graduate Year 1 (PGY1) Award 2024. The award celebrates their exceptional clinical skills, medical knowledge, personal attributes, and outstanding work performance throughout their PGY1 training.
Nanyang Awards 2024 recognises LKCMedicine student-led book project
A team of LKCMedicine students was awarded the Nanyang Award (Teamwork) for their work on History Taking, History Making: Walking into Singapore’s Medical Story. They interviewed 11 pioneers in Singapore's healthcare history, capturing the legacies of our pioneers to inspire all doctors. Read the e-book here.
Experimental Medicine Building awarded BCA Green Mark Platinum certification
LKCMedicine’s Experimental Medicine Building (EMB) achieved the esteemed Green Mark (GM) Platinum certification, a testament to the School’s commitment to sustainability and excellence in building performance. The award recognises LKCMedicine’s continuous efforts in implementing innovative strategies to optimise resource efficiency, enhance occupant wellbeing, and minimise environmental impact.
Strengthening the LKCMedicine Faculty
LKCMedicine’s medical education leadership saw new appointments. A/P Faith Chia Li-Ann was appointed Vice-Dean for Education, while Dr Dorai Raj Appadorai was appointed Assistant Dean, Year 3. A/P See Jee Jian was appointed Assistant Dean for Admissions and Overseas Electives, while Dr Raphael Lee was appointed Assistant Dean for Clinical Practice and Patient Safety. Dr Daniel Quek was appointed Assistant Dean, MBBS Lead. Dr David Mathew was appointed Deputy Head for Clinical Practice and Patient Safety, while Dr Andrew Li was appointed Deputy Head, Year 3. Dr Ng Wee Khoon was appointed Deputy Head, Year 5 and will be appointed Assistant Dean, Year 5 w.e.f. 1 February 2025. Dr Caroline Choong will be appointed Deputy Head, Year 5 w.e.f. 1 February 2025
Delegation Visits
From October to December 2024, LKCMedicine hosted delegates from Taiwan’s National Defense Medical Center, Tohoku University, Tohoku University Hospital, Ludwig Maximilian University, Sultan Qaboos University, and Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine. During the respective visits, delegates were briefed on LKCMedicine’s learner-centric curricula and Team-Based Learning (TBL), including discussions on potential collaborations in research and education.
