Editor's Corner: October 2024
From Founding Leadership to New Horizons
By Sanjay Devaraja, Editor, The LKCMedicine |
With the admission of its largest cohort to date and the recent enhanced NTU MBBS programme, LKCMedicine is poised for a promising future as it continues to advance forward. Both our Homecoming and White Coat Ceremony events were a tad special this year as the School celebrated other momentous occasions such as the launch of the “History Taking, History Making: Walking Into Singapore’s Medical Story” book – an effort solely by LKCMedicine students, and the unveiling of the School’s refreshed brand identity after 13 years.
In this issue, we cast the spotlight on our founding Chairman Mr Lim Chuan Poh’s 14-year stewardship of LKCMedicine. As he passes the baton to veteran public servant Ms Chan Lai Fung, we reflect on his astute leadership and how he has, over the years, propelled LKCMedicine to become one among the top 100 medical schools in the world. Mr Lim has been at the helm since the founding of LKCMedicine, overseeing significant milestones of the School from the groundbreaking ceremony of our Novena Campus to the recent launch of the new Centre of AI in Medicine (C-AIM) aimed at revolutionising patient care.
Director of the Developmental Biology & Regenerative Medicine Programme at LKCMedicine, Dr Kristijan Ramadan shares more on the rebranding of the programme towards cancer research, and how efforts are undertaken to further enhance the existing programme.
