Taking the medical school to the heartlands
By Kimberley Wang, Editor, The LKCMedicine |
In March this year, we took our medical school to the heartlands for the first time, with our inaugural Art & Science of Medicine festival held at Toa Payoh Hub Atrium. This had always been in our plans – as Dean Professor Joseph Sung put it, “we want the medical school to be among the people that we serving.”
And what a show it was! With 14 interactive booths on medical education and research, health screening stations, health talks and workshops, as well as an art exhibition, some 5,000 residents were happy to learn more about healthy ageing, the festival theme. Read about this in the pages within.
Also get up close with our faculty’s work – Associate Professor Eric Yap’s latest project on microbes in Asia, and Assistant Professor Anna Barron’s work on the brain’s immune cells that could lead to treatment for Alzheimer’s disease.
Happy reading!
