Editor's Corner: August 2022
Celebrating our milestones
By Kimberley Wang, Editor, The LKCMedicine |
The past two months have certainly been eventful! With the easing of safe management measures, LKCMedicine hosted many exciting programmes. We have heard of revenge travel and revenge shopping. There is now a sense of “revenge in-person events” with the comeback of activities that host large gatherings onsite.
The School held the much-anticipated James Best Distinguished Lecture by Nobel laureate Professor Barry Marshall on 4 August. In his week here, Prof Marshall generously shared his experiences on the road to his Nobel Prize with our students, postdocs and faculty.
In July, the Class of 2022 celebrated their graduation with the usual grandeur of a full Convocation ceremony. The School also held a special event on campus for our recent graduates and alumni, hosted by Chairman of LKCMedicine Governing Board Mr Lim Chuan Poh and Dean Professor Joseph Sung. It marked the first-ever major event for LKCMedicine alumni since 2020.
This month, we warmly welcome our latest cohort of medical students – the Class of 2027 – to a campus abuzz with various activities. Vice-Dean (Education) Professor Jennifer Cleland pens a heartfelt message to encourage our new students as they embark on their medical education.
