January 2024 | Issue 68
2023 was a year of many highlights and accolades for LKCMedicine, on the education, research and corporate front. Delighted to celebrate together with the LKCMedicine Cares team who won the Health & Wellness Initiative of the Year - Education award at the SBR Management Excellence Awards in November last year. LKCMedicine won for our holistic employee well-being programme catered for our diverse workforce. Another feather in our cap: being awarded the Champion status for Eco Office by the Singapore Environment Council (SEC) at the 24th Singapore Environment Achievement Award Ceremony in 2023!
We also salute several of our faculty members publishing their papers in prestigious journals, with LKCMedicine’s Family Medicine and Primary Care (FMPC) winning Best Paper of the Year 2022 at the North American Primary Care Research Group (NAPCRG) conference in San Francisco, USA. From developing a new method in killing antimicrobial resistant bacteria in skin wounds to developing the ability to track cholesterol in live cells real time, LKCMedicine scientists continue to show resolve in pushing boundaries to discover the undiscovered.
Promoting patient-centric care is a core feature in the MBBS curriculum offered at LKCMedicine. After a hiatus due to COVID-19, in-person simulated patient training workshops were held once again with participants honing their acting skills that would allow medical students to better understand and communicate with patients.
For this issue, we also acknowledge Professor Lim Kah Leong’s contributions as Vice-Dean Research just as he leaves for a new appointment at NTU Singapore. A well-admired figure not just within the LKCMedicine community, but also the scientific fraternity at large, he has taken LKCMedicine to greater heights in research, inspiring a culture of growth, collaboration and non-stop learning.
Don’t miss out on all these and more in the latest issue of The LKCMedicine newsletter!
