Editor's Corner: January 2024
Reflections of 2023
By Sanjay Devaraja, Editor, The LKCMedicine |
2023 was an eventful year for LKCMedicine where the School organised several inaugural events such as the Art and Science of Medicine Festival and the iAIM international conference. Platforms such as The Academic Respiratory Initiative for Pulmonary Health (TARIPH) Centre and the Academy of Clinician Scientists and Innovators (ACSI) were also launched officially with the vision of providing a home for clinician scientists and innovators and promoting research.
Our students were also actively involved in several Overseas Community Involvement Projects (OCIPs) which returned in full swing in 2023 in a post-pandemic era. They conducted public health screenings and health seminars for the communities they visited in countries such as Indonesia, India, Cambodia, Thailand, and the Philippines. Student groups involved also raised funds to support their beneficiaries and partners.
Reflecting back, these initiatives are a testament to the School’s continuous efforts to elevating research and connecting with the community. With exciting events and programmes in the pipeline such as the upcoming LKCMedicine Open House in the first quarter of the year to the Art and Science of Medicine Festival in the later part of the year, LKCMedicine’s journey in 2024 will undeniably also be one to cherish and remember. Do keep abreast of all our events on our soon-to-be refreshed website.
Happy New Year and happy reading!
