Editor's Corner: June 2022
Raising a toast to our champions
By Kimberley Wang, Editor, The LKCMedicine |
On 15 May, the School celebrated with our student Jonathan Au Eong as he made history by clinching a gold medal in the men’s individual foil (fencing) at the 31st SEA Games. Three days later, Jonathan went on to join Singapore’s fencers to win the men’s foil team title. Beyond sports, our students are also flying the LKCMedicine flag high in other arenas, taking home top prizes at national and international competitions.
In April, we launched two new research centres – Centre for Biomedical Informatics and Dementia Research Centre (Singapore) – that will contribute to LKCMedicine’s growing research capabilities, in line with the School’s vision of redefining medicine and transforming healthcare. Our scientists, including LKCMedicine Dean Professor Joseph Sung, continue to carry out impactful research on diseases and public health issues.
We also hear from LKCMedicine Associate Professor of Infection and Immunity Luo Dahai on his passion for research on viruses that are causing public health issues and what keeps him going.
Don’t miss out on all these and more in the latest issue!
