​Visit from Queen Mary University of London
On 26 September, Dean for Education and Director of the Institute of Health Sciences Education at Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) Professor Anthony Warrens visited LKCMedicine’s Novena Campus. Prof Warrens was hosted by LKCMedicine Dean Professor James Best and Vice-Dean for Education Professor Naomi Low-Beer to discuss potential research collaborations and to learn about LKCMedicine’s unique MBBS pedagogy. An overview of the MBBS curriculum, Team-Based Learning, and Student Support System was presented to Prof Warrens, after which he met with Professor of Cardiovascular Epidemiology John Chambers to discuss collaboration opportunities.


LKCMedicine leads new NTU Neuroscience PhD Programme
On 19 September, NTU President Subra Suresh announced the launch of a new campus-wide Neuroscience PhD programme, with the goal to provide PhD students at NTU with structured Neuroscience training. One of the unique features of the NTU Neuroscience programme is that it is highly interdisciplinary and will cater to students with backgrounds ranging from biology, medicine and cognitive science, to engineering and computational sciences. The programme will admit its first cohort of students in August 2020 and it is expected that up to 80 NTU faculty will be involved in the programme, including faculty from LKCMedicine and nearly every other School of NTU.
 
The Neuroscience PhD programme has been developed by the Neuroscience Task Force, which includes faculty from across NTU, including the Irene Tan Liang Kheng Chair Professor of Neuroscience George Augustine and Associate Professor of Behavioural Neuroscience Suresh Jesuthasan from LKCMedicine. The programme is one of the many recommendations of the campus-wide Strategic Working Group on Neuroscience, Cognitive Science, and Science of Learning, led by Director of the National Institute of Education Christine Goh and Prof Augustine. This Group included several other members from LKCMedicine faculty, including Dean Professor James Best, Vice-Dean for Education Professor Naomi Low-Beer and President's Chair in Translational Neuroscience Professor Balázs Gulyás.

Three LKCMedicine faculty members receive Nanyang Awards
On 19 September, at NTU President and Distinguished Professor Subra Suresh's second State of the University address on the main campus, three faculty members of LKCMedicine received Nanyang Education Awards. One Education Award was conferred at the College level and two at the School level. The sole LKCMedicine recipient of the Nanyang Education Award (College) is Head of Anatomy Assistant Professor Sreenivasulu Reddy Mogali. This is Asst Prof Reddy's second Nanyang Education Award — he received the School-level award in 2016. On winning the College-level Nanyang Education Award, Asst Prof Reddy is also inducted as a lifelong Fellow of the Teaching Excellence Academy at NTU. Associate Professor Lim Poh Lian, a clinical-educator, received the Nanyang Education Award (School-level). A/Prof Lim is currently a senior consultant in the Department of Infectious Diseases at Tan Tock Seng Hospital, and at the National Centre for Infectious Diseases. Senior Lecturer Dr Lucy Victoria Rosby also received the Nanyang Education Award (School-level). She has a clinical background in surgery with a passion for medical education and research. At LKCMedicine, she teaches anatomy and clinical communication, supervises feedback and curriculum review teams as Lead for Curriculum Review.
