Editor's Corner: October 2021
Celebrating amid uncertainty
By Kimberley Wang, Editor, The LKCMedicine
Amid pandemic disruptions, we have rallied together to commemorate the School’s key milestones in person. With safe management measures in place, we celebrated the Class of 2021 at Convocation and welcomed our latest cohort of medical students at the White Coat Ceremony.
We have more cause to celebrate with LKCMedicine winning the ASPIRE Award in recognition of our world-class pandemic resilient medical education. Our scientists were also honoured at this year’s National Healthcare Group Research and Innovation Awards for their ground-breaking work that has made a positive impact on patients.
As we learn to live with the virus, it is only natural to experience some stress during this difficult time. In this issue, Assistant Dean for Clinical Communication Dr Tanya Tierney shares tips on practising mindful self-compassion to improve our wellbeing.
While the pandemic has brought about many uncertainties, it brings to the fore the School’s mission to equip doctors who advance the science and practice of medicine for the good of humanity. We are proud of our graduates who are working in hospitals throughout Singapore and our researchers who are collaborating across disciplines in the fight against COVID-19.
