School of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) of Nanyang Technological University is celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2021. The motive of this active moving event that includes distance running and walking challenges is to bring together the entire MSE community of students, alumni, faculty and staff, collaborators, as well as family and friends for a good cause and in commemorating this milestone.

Distance Challenge

 

  • Run/Walk at your pace and as much as you can during the challenge period to contribute.

  • "Special Perks" - If your cumulative run/walk activities total a minimum of 30 km, you will be entitled to receive an MSE 30th Anniversary special edition t-shirt!!
  • S$1 is raised for each km from our Distance Sponsors.

3. Make your payment.
- This completes your registration for the event. Payment entitles you to a finisher t-shirt after completing at least 30 km in this challenge.


4. Join “Celebrate MSE@NTU” Club in Strava app. - This is an important step. Only after joining the club are we able to track your distance activities. Watch the video or read the guide on how to join the Club in Strava app to record your activity. 


Event Entitlement

  • For individuals: Complete your challenge of at least 30 km to receive a finisher t-shirt.

  • For parent and child: Complete at least 15 km to receive a finisher t-shirt each. 

  • Please indicate your t-shirt size during registration. Except for MSE alumni and public, all participants will have to self-collect the finisher t-shirt from the school of Materials Science & Engineering.

  • For alumni & public participants, the finisher t-shirt will be delivered to the mailing address indicated during registration. The t-shirt will be dispatched within 2-4 weeks after the event ends.

  • For self-collection, a separate email will be sent to participants after the event for you to choose your collection date and time slots.

Rules

  • Complete your running or walking activities within the event period.

  • Complete at least 30 km within the challenge period to receive a finisher t-shirt. Cumulative distance is recorded in Strava.

  • For manual uploads in Strava, a screen capture of your run/walk activity must be posted in your timeline. This is for verification purposes and accountability to sponsors.

  • MSE reserves the right to exclude your activities if fraudulent records are found.

Participants who registered for the event and completed the 30km challenge within the challenge period will get an opportunity to win these prizes.

We will conduct a random selection at the end of the event. Winners will be informed via email and announced in our Facebook and Instagram.

FAQs

MSE faculty, staff, students, alumni and general public who complete the registration and make their payment by 29 August 2021 can join this event.

Yes, you can join the event. However, please note that the entitlements will only be mailed to a Singapore address.
This refers to an adult and a child who is 12 years old and below. 
During registration you will have to choose the parent & child category, fill in the parent’s particulars only and make an additional selection for your child’s shirt size. 
You can only participate in one of the categories. 
Registration is accepted only when particulars are submitted, and payment is made. A message will be shown to indicate if the payment is successful or rejected immediately. You should also be receiving a payment receipt to your email by the next day upon successful payment. If you do not receive any email, please write to us at [email protected] with your registered name, email address and contact number.
Once registered you are not allowed to change the category.
Please write in to [email protected]. For identification, please provide us your initial registered name, email address and contact number. 
No changes or exchange can be made once registration is completed.
Please send an email to [email protected] with the new mailing address. We can only change the mailing address before we mail out the event entitlements to you. We are not liable for replacement once the event entitlements have been mailed out.
Payments made are non-refundable.
We only accept Strava app to track and record your running/walking distance. Strava app is free to download on both Apple app store and Android Google Play store.
You will need to join the club 'Celebrate MSE@NTU – An Active Moving Event' in Strava app. You may also use any acceptable fitness tracker and record the run/walk in the club. Click here to read the guide.
This is considered as one registration and use of one user name. All record of activities should be under this user name, whether the parent and child run/walked individually or together. 
Payment must be made by 29 August 2021 and complete the challenge by 26 September 2021, 2359hrs. 
Individuals must complete cumulative of at least 30 km throughout the period to get a t-shirt.
The parent and child must complete at least 15km to get a t-shirt each. 
MSE students, staff and faculty will self-collect the finisher t-shirt from the School of Materials Science & Engineering. A separate email will be sent to participants after the event to indicate collection date and time slots. 
For alumni and public participants, the finisher t-shirt will be delivered to the respective mailing address indicated in the registration form. The t-shirt will be mailed within 2 -4 weeks after the event ends.
