Professor Chen Xiaodong's Induction Into The Class of 2024 AIMBE College of Fellows
Professor Chen Xiaodong has been formally inducted into The Class of 2024 American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE) College of Fellows, joining the distinguished ranks of the top two per cent of medical and biological
engineers in the world. This prestigious recognition was conferred at the AIMBE Annual Event on 25 March 2024 at the Renaissance Arlington Capital View Hotel in Arlington County, Virginia, USA.
Professor Chen, a leading figure in materials science and engineering, was elected by peers and members of the College of Fellows for his “pioneering contributions and leadership in the development of wearable sensors for human healthcare”.
His groundbreaking work includes advancing functional nanomaterials and creating innovative bioelectronic interfaces that aim to revolutionise healthcare with new methods for monitoring and treatment. Among his notable achievements is the development
of the world’s first plant-based robot and an artificial neural network for electronic noses, which stand as testaments to his innovative approach to bioengineering. Currently serving as the Editor-in-Chief of ACS Nano, Professor Chen has played
a pivotal role in enhancing the journal’s impact and reach across the global scientific community.
Election to the AIMBE College of Fellows is one of the highest professional honours within the medical and biological engineering community. Professor Chen’s induction into the College of Fellows not only celebrates his remarkable contributions
