SIMTech Awards 2020: Best Student Awards (Silver) – Mr Vu Tuan Duc

We are pleased to share that our postgraduate student Mr Vu Tuan Duc has won the Best Student Award – Silver Award in SIMTech Awards 2020. Tuan Duc is currently a postgraduate student of Dr Long Yi, co-supervised by Dr Zeng Xianting and Dr Hu Jiangfeng from SIMTech. He won the award for his PhD research work entitled “HiPIMS deposition of VO2 thermochromic coatings for enhanced optical properties". 

 

Tuan Duc’s PhD project aims to apply nano-structuring through the High-powered impulse sputtering (HiPIMS) fabrication and nano-patterning to improve the performance, transition temperature, and stability of VO2 thin film on glass substrate for window applications. He has achieved both normal (a few days) and extended (equivalent to 14 years) stability with his continuous VO2 thin film on glass. He has published several research articles in notable scientific journals such as Journal of Materials Chemistry C and Ceramics International. In addition, his research work has also resulted in the filing of technology disclosures with NTU and SIMTech.
