A Memorable Celebration: Graduation Ceremony of Executive Master of Science (Managerial Economics) (EMME) and Executive Master of Public Administration (EMPA) Programme

 

On January 14, the historic Fort Canning Hotel, an enduring symbol of Singapore’s heritage came alive with a closing ceremony organised by the Nanyang Centre for Public Administration (NCPA) for the 28th cohort of the EMME and the 20th cohort of the EMPA Programme.

The ceremony welcomed 50 graduates, joined by families and friends to celebrate their academic achievements and friendships forged during their journey. At the event, an illustrious lineup of guests, including Dr Han Jun, Minister Counsellor of the Education Department of Embassy of China in Singapore; Professor Liu Hong, Associate Vice President, International and Director (Research & Executive Education), NCPA; Associate Professor Wang Jue, Director of NCPA; Professor Long Denggao, Director of Research Center for National Entrepreneurship, Tsinghua University, and Visiting Professor of NCPA at NTU; Associate Professor Yow Cheun How, Director of the Chinese Heritage Centre at NTU; Ms Connie Zhang, Director of the China Affairs Office, and Dr Wang Hang, Deputy Director of NCPA as well as Dr Yang Yu, Managing Director of ICBC Singapore Branch, and Mr Tang Congliang, Chief Financial Officer of G.H.Y Culture & Media Holding Co., Limited, graced the celebration. 

Prof Wang Jue and Minister Counsellor Han Jun delivered warm and inspiring speeches, commending the graduates on their dedication and perseverance while expressing confidence in their future success.

Adding to the evening’s splendour was a mesmerising live performance by internationally acclaimed cellist, Professor Liwei-Qin, who graced the event with a stunning rendition of Bach’s Cello Suite No. 1 in G Major. His exquisite artistry captivated the audience, creating a deeply memorable highlight for all attendees.

The event also recognised outstanding students through the Director’s List and Best Capstone Paper, with commemorative plaques for class leaders and all graduates. Class leader Mr Li Zhen expressed the class’s heartfelt gratitude to faculty, administrative staff, and colleges at NTU and presented a thoughtful memento to NCPA.

This year’s best teaching award was presented to Professor Chen Xiaodong, Distinguished University Professor at NTU and a pioneer in flexible electronics. This honour, based on students' appraisal reflected the high regard and appreciation of the graduating cohort.

A heart-warming highlight was the special birthday celebration for those students born within the past three months as they received gifts presented by Dr Wang Hang. A short video created by the graduates featured many vibrant and cherished moments of their time at NTU.

 

With the remarkable students’ performances and an exciting lucky draw, the celebration reached its joyful crescendo where an evening of smiles, gratitude, cherished memories and camaraderie brings forth new milestones. Congratulations to all graduates!
