IWA World Water Congress & Exhibition Project Innovation Award 2024
Silver Award in the Exceptional Project Execution and Delivery category
Our congratulations to NEWRI alumni, Dr Huang Wenhai, project lead for the ‘Huangxiao River and Airport River Water Environment Comprehensive Treatment PPP Project’ has achieved the Silver Award for the IWA World Water Congress & Exhibition Project Innovation Award at the IWA World Water Congress & Exhibition. This award celebrates projects that developed and implemented: creative practices during their execution; excellent client relationships beyond expectations; outstanding responses to unexpected difficulties.
The IWA World Water Congress & Exhibition gathers stakeholders and key contacts from both the conventional water sector and related fields. It brings together core water sector groups, such as those focused on urban water and urban water services, as well as participants from industry and agriculture, architects and urban planners, soil and groundwater experts and hydrologists, social scientists, the ICT sector, the financial sector, and others. This year’s congress was held from August 11 to 15, in Toronto, Canada.

Huang Wenhai was a former NEWRI PhD student under Emeritus Professor Ng Wun Jern and later became a postdoctoral researcher and project manager at NEWRI and the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Nanyang Technological University (NTU). He is now General Manager of China Construction Third Bureau Pipeline Network Technology Co., Ltd., engaged in the design, management, research and development of water services and environmental protection projects.
