NTU Service Week 2023 launched by Minister Grace Fu
NTU Service Week 2023 was launched on 25 February by Ms Grace Fu, Minister for Sustainability and Environment. Present were Ms Goh Swee Chen, Board Chair of NTU Board of Trustees, Mr Lo Kien Foh, Chairman of NTU Alumni and Development Committee, Professor Ling San, Acting President and Provost of NTU and other distinguished guests at the Nanyang Executive Centre (NEC). The weeklong NTU Service week is part of ‘We Belong 2023’ campaign alongside other directions such as ‘Best Foot Forward’ and NTU’s ‘Giving Day’. These programs aim at bringing the OneNTU community together through philanthropy and volunteerism. As part of NTU Service Week, the University Advancement Office (UAO) had also organized a food donation drive to support needy households in Singapore.
In addition to a panelled session about sustainability, there was also an accompanying minor exhibition set up to showcase some of the sustainability initiatives undertaken by NTU Singapore. Minister Ms Grace Fu also took some time to visit NEWRI’s booth where Dr Santosh Pathak (NEWRI) showed the minister of some projects undertaken by our philanthropic arm, NEWRI Community Development (NEWRIComm), to help underserved communities in South and South East Asia. In her speech, the minister also mentioned NEWRI’s drive towards water security, as well as the Waste-to-Energy Research Facility in Tuas South and how it helps reduce ash sent to Semakau Landfill.
