Contributions of NTU faculty and staff recognised with National Day honours

This year, 102 NTU faculty and staff were presented with the Singapore National Day Awards in recognition of their meritorious service to the country.

Leading the list of National Day honourees is Professor Ho Teck Hua, NTU President and Distinguished University Professor, who was awarded the Public Administration Medal (Gold). A prominent behavioural scientist, Prof Ho took office as NTU’s fifth President in April 2023.

Prof Ho said: “Working in the education sector has been very fulfilling for me. As an educator, researcher, and administrator, I have had the privilege of working with the brightest and most promising young minds, playing a role in nurturing them to become tomorrow’s leaders. I believe in education as a social leveller, and the role universities play in pioneering innovations that benefit society and our community. I am thankful for the many colleagues that I have had the pleasure of serving with over the years.”

Prof Ho is the Founding Executive Chairman of AI Singapore (AISG); President of the Academy of Engineering, Singapore; and sits on the boards of the Defence Science and Technology Agency, DSO National Laboratories, and the Government Technology Agency. Prior to joining NTU, Prof Ho was the senior deputy president and provost at National University of Singapore.

NTU Board Chair Ms Goh Swee Chen, who is also Chairperson, Institute for Human Resource Professionals, was honoured with a Public Service Medal.

NTU faculty and staff are among the 6,598 individuals recognised for their contributions to Singapore.
