How brands can reach out to digital natives: panel discussion

As part of NTU’s Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information’s 30th anniversary celebrations, the school held a panel discussion titled “Communicating to Digital Natives: From Indifference to Involvement” to explore the psyche of youths today and to share what organisations should be doing to engage these digital natives.

Industry experts from broadcast media, digital media, retail, and education sectors shared insights into the psyche of youths and what organisations can do to connect with them.

The discussion, moderated by veteran journalist and WKWSCI alumna Ms Diana Ser, included panellists such as Ms Tham Loke Kheng, CEO, Mediacorp Pte Ltd; Ms Ng Chew Wee, Head of Business Marketing, Asia Pacific, TikTok; Mr Sanjay Roy, General Manager, PUMA Southeast Asia; and Dr Mark Cenite, Associate Dean (Undergraduate Education), College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences, NTU Singapore.

The panel covered important and topical issues such as media consumption trends amongst youths, relevance and synergy between traditional media and digital media platforms, running social campaigns in the digital era, and preparing new generations of communication practitioners for a dynamic new media environment.

Mr Tan Kiat How, Senior Minister of State for Ministry of Communications and Information & Ministry of National Development, graced the event as Guest-of-Honour.
