CRCD Database Project

About Us

The CRCD Database was set up in 2020 with the goal to maximize the use, value and impact of the research data collected from multiple studies within the Centre for Research in Child Development (CRCD). It aims (1) to link and pool data from multiple studies for gaining deeper insights and answering comprehensive research questions; and (2) to inform the development, use and adaptation of psychoeducational measurement tools that are appropriate in Singapore.

Data Guidelines

The CRCD Database Team has developed a set of Data Guidelines to support researchers in managing their data throughout its lifecycle. These guidelines are structured to address research data management and the setup of REDCap.

Data Request

The CRCD Database Team facilitates the secondary use of data via data requests. Eligible users can request access to the data hosted within the CRCD Database, subject to IRB Approval. To aid in data exploration, an in-house data catalogue is available for users to browse and identify variables of interest.

The CRCD Database Team organizes sharing and training sessions to build research capacity within the CRCD community. The sharing sessions are structured around the five stages of the Data Life-Cycle, while the training sessions cover various aspects of research data management with hands-on activities.

Data Acquisition Sharing Session Poster
Data Acquisition - Sharing Session

In this session, we explored key aspects of data acquisition, focusing on recommended tools and technologies that streamline the process. We covered essential techniques and best practices to ensure data quality and efficiency. Additionally, we discussed the benefits of providing training and oversight to research teams and highlighted how collaboration can enhance data acquisition efforts, leading to more comprehensive and accurate datasets.

REDCap Training Session
REDCap - Training Session

In this session, participants learned how to create their own surveys using REDCap and gained an understanding of its basic functions. The training focused on designing surveys tailored to specific project needs. Attendees also participated in hands-on exercises using mock data and scenarios to apply what they learned in a practical setting.

The CRCD Database Team publishes a regular newsletter, DataBites, to keep you informed about the latest developments and best practices in data management.
