Associate Professor Mohd Mukhlis Abu Bakar was invited to speak by the Malay Library Services of the National Library Board

Assoc Prof Mohd Mukhlis Abu Bakar, Head of the Asian Languages & Cultures Academic Group (ALC AG), was invited by the Malay Library Services of the National Library Board (NLB) to speak on Sebutan Baku as part of its Sembang Santai Series at the National Library on 10 June 2023. He shared with the participants on the misconceptions that people have about Sebutan Baku, also known as “Standard Pronunciation”, with reference to the findings from his research. He also discussed the impact that the policy on Sebutan Baku has on the development of the Malay Language in Singapore.
