Dr Loh Chin Ee speaks at National Library Board’s Reading in the Age of Distraction 2022 event
Assoc Prof Loh Chin Ee, Deputy Head (Research) at the English Language and Literature Academic Group (ELL AG) was invited to speak at a webinar on 9 July 2022 titled “Read to Focus: The Art of Focused Reading in an Age of Distraction”, organised by the National Library Board (NLB). Dr Loh was joined by Professor Emerita Naomi Baron, Professor Emerita of Linguistics at American University and moderator Ibrahim Tahir, Bookseller at Wardah Books, where they discussed on how people are reading today, its understated effects, how one can cultivate focused reading – and focus – in the age of distraction.
This was part of a webinar series titled “Reading in the Age of Distraction 2022”, which included a series of conversations featuring acclaimed local and international thinkers on the science of reading, and reading well in the digital age.
