SCCCE Forum Series – Leading CCE in Singapore and our schools
The Singapore Centre for Character and Citizenship Education (SCCCE) conducted its first forum of the year on 5 August 2024. This was a closed-door forum for school leaders and about 120 participants were at LT2 to listen to Mr Wong Siew Hoong, former Director-General of Education and current MOE Advisor speak about ‘Leading CCE in Singapore and our schools.’ In his own inimitable way, Mr Wong engaged the audience on the significant CCE issues of the day. He reiterated the criticality of CCE in today’s world and how CCE should not be subordinated in importance to other academic subjects. Mr Wong emphasised that MOE must remain the key custodian of the CCE curriculum, despite external pressures. He further stressed the importance of professional development of teachers as CCE pedagogical practices evolve with the changing of times to meet current needs. Mr Wong also officially unveiled and launched the SCCCE framework at the forum.
