The Strategic Growth Area-Science of Learning committee organised a workshop with representatives from NIE and IHLs
On 28 February 2025, the Strategic Growth Area-Science of Learning (SGA-SoL) committee had a gathering with representatives and partners from the National Institute of Education (NIE) and Institute of Higher Learning (IHLs) at Raffles Town Club for a half-day workshop to discuss about 3 key topics: Digital Phenotyping for Mental Health, Artificial Intelligence-Science of Learning (AI-SoL) in Teacher Literacy, and Multimodal Data for Student Learning. Attendees engaged in meaningful conversations about how digital phenotyping can identify mental health challenges, ethical concerns in behavioral data collection, and AI-driven personalisation could be utilized in education. The committee brainstormed and evaluated how AI can enhance teacher training; help interpret student learning insights and develop adaptive teaching frameworks. The group also talked about how the use of multimodal data (e.g., eye-tracking, physiological sensors) to assess learning, challenges in analysing such data across cultures, and ensuring equitable digital transformation in education.
